All these things are joined by utmost colour accuracy and colour coverage, Adobe RGB of 99%, DCI-P3 of 99% and full coverage of sRGB. As a professional-grade monitor dedicated for graphics design, Eizo understand the importance of calibration, which is why they equip this display with a calibration sensor that pops up from the bottom edge of the bezel.

With the help of the brand’s own Color Navigator 6 software, the sensor can be used independently or used alongside with another external colorimeter, such as ColorMunki and X-Rite i1.

Correlation to ColorMunki results

A very convenient feature for designers, especially those working on dual monitor or even multiple monitor setup and wants consistent color across all connected screens.

Equipped with ASIC for High-Precision Colour Processing and Smoother Colour Tones

Eizo developed and embedded the ColorEdge CG277 with their Application Specific Integration Circuit (ASIC) to allow better high-precision colour processing and smooth colour tone production, perfect for graphics design.

Individually Adjusted Straight from the Factory

Like other models under ColorEdge line, the gamma level of Eizo CG277 is adjusted right from the factory. This means the screen perform within the spec right from its first use.

Good Viewing Angle Performance

The viewing angle of this Eizo monitor is at 178° for both vertical and horizontal, which is the same as more expensive displays out there. Both color and brightness remained consistent throughout its viewing angle, no signs of flickering or fluorescent lighting.

Decent Pixel Response Time and Good Video Quality Playback for Entertainment

If you’re like many designers who love to play games on their PC once in a while, then this Eizo display is a good option for you. It runs 6ms Response Time, obviously a little far from the best gaming monitors, but definitely delivers smooth quality even in fast-paced transitions in high-action big title games.

Also, this monitor’s video quality is good; solid blacks without visible ghosting even in quick changing action, great for watching online videos and movies. There is no noticeable backlight bleeding across the screen, unlike cheaper IPS panel technology.

VESA Mount Compatible

Eizo stayed faithful to its ColorEdge CG277’s target users, and they truly paid attention to its ergonomics, because aside from the fully adjustable stand, the monitor also comes with 100x100mm VESA-compliant mounting holes.

Dual Monitor and Multiple Monitor Mounting Options

As with other monitors  of its size, there aren’t many available options for dual monitor and triple monitor setup for Eizo ColorEdge CG277. There are however, a couple of good options that can provide almost everything you can ask for.

Ergotron LX Dual Side-by-Side Arm (image from Amazon)

One of the best examples out there is the Ergotron LX Dual Side-by-Side Arm. This dual monitor stand comes with fully articulating arm that lets you adjust and re-position each display anywhere on your desk. You can even put one monitor on top of the other. It is made up of high quality materials, such as solid polished aluminum construction and comes with the brand’s very own Constant Force (technology), a patented technology that keeps screen firm and secured in place, while still allow smooth and easy adjustment movement for optimum ergonomics.

If you wish to use the 27-inch monitor as a standalone monitor for your workstation, but you still want the advantage of a fully articulating arm, then you can opt for Ergotron LX Wall Mount LCD Arm. It works exactly like its dual monitor version, except for the single display capability.

Design and Features

Design wise, there is nothing flashy about Eizo ColorEdge CG277 – it is more of a practical design, rather than stylishIt even looks utilitarian with its straightforward and chunky 3-inch thick cabinet with fairly chunky side bezels. The control buttons that sits in front are hardly stylishly integrated, which should be enough to give you a hint of what this monitor is about – a no-nonsense professional monitor built for specialized and demanding work.

The overall grey plastic finish comes with ventilation grills. As what we expect, the bulky cabinet makes for excellent build quality. The entire monitor feels sturdy, solid and secure.

With All the Basic I/O Ports (But Limited)

This Eizo professional-grade monitor has the basic I/O ports you need for your workstation, however, they are fairly limited to single HDMI, DVI-D, and DisplayPort. Fortunately, it comes with USB ports.

Secured Stand with Effortless Adjustments with Cable Management System

The utilitarian design is paired nicely with a fully adjustable stand, with easy and convenient adjustments. The whole cabinet weighs 13.8 lbs., and paired by a solid and sturdy stand. Adjusting and re-positioning the stand is effortless; it can tilt and swivel with a simple touch. Similarly, a simple cinch is all it takes to switch from landscape to portrait orientation mode. Height adjustment may require a little more force, but it is still relatively easy. A slightly taller maximum height adjustment would be better though, as the short pole makes it impossible for the screen to spin into portrait quickly. You have to pull the panel’s bottom out to swing it pass the base. It drops conveniently low though, very advantageous for shorter users.

There’s also a cable management system at the back of the stand to keep all connected cables and wires in check.

Cooling Fan Right Inside the Monitor to Maintain Temperature

As a work monitor, Eizo CG277 is expected to run for hours on a regular basis. This is why the brand included a built-in fan right inside the cabinet to keep everything in the right temperature level and keep the monitor in good condition. Though we can hear the fan in a quiet room, it is still unobtrusive compared to most laptop’s cooling fans.

Comes with Monitor Hood to Block Screen from Harsh Environment Lighting

Not many monitors have this feature, as most people may not need it. However, for artists, photographers, graphics designers, etc., who works on well-lit environment, too much ambient light can become a problem. Not all monitors come with anti-glare coating, while some only use subtle coating, so as not to affect the image quality of the screen. The monitor hood in Eizo ColorEdge CG277 may be a complicated thing, but it is solidly made. It also comes with black flock on its interior edges, keeping glares and reflections to minimum.

Bottom Line

There is no debating that Eizo ColorEdge CG277 delivers the most accurate colors and grayscale in the market right now, making it a top choice for professionals working on either stills or videos. It may lack the 4K Ultra HD resolution, but it doesn’t stop it from being the best available monitor for graphics designers. Sure there are other products out there sold at the same price range and offer almost similar quality, but this professional-grade monitor from Eizo is just cut above the rest for its work-centric features such as the calibration sensor and factory calibrated quality. This means the Eizo CG277 delivers the best bung for your buck.

In an ideal world, we surely want a more stylish and elegant frame. However, for serious professionals, the utilitarian and bulky frame is a small price to pay for unsurpassed image quality and performance. Also, this monitor doesn’t come with a cheap price tag, but like most high-end business monitors out there, it can easily justify its price.

All in all, there are no other monitors out there that can rival the Eizo ColorEdge CG277 when it comes to colour accuracy. It’s the best available product for serious graphics designers.
