The 10-point touch system of Viewsonic TD2340 touchscreen monitor works like charm. Swiping through the screen, pinching and stretching web pages and images, and rotating commands are pleasantly smooth and fluid. Its highly responsive touchscreen system also makes it easy to enter texts using the on-screen keyboard and provide the accurate cursor control.

IPS-Panel that Delivers Accurate Colors and Solid Grayscale Performance

IPS is known for making colors look live and vibrant, and it’s no different in this ViewSonic monitor. TD2340’s panel delivers mostly accurate colors; red and blue are on point, while green is a little off in CIE chromaticity test. Which is also  the case in most mid-level IPS panels today, though slightly heavy greens don’t result to any obvious tinting or affect the screen’s overall color quality.

Grayscale performance of TD2340 is also very good, though the darkest shades can be improved. Small texts also look very readable and easy on the eyes.

Wide Viewing Angle to Pair with Screen Rotation and Wide Tilt Range Functions

Wide viewing angles are important for monitors like TD2340, as it offers variety of ergonomic adjustments such as screen rotation and wide tilt range. In this case, there is no color shifting or loss of luminance in Viewsonic TD2340’s screen at any point of its viewing angle.

Basic Picture Preset Options for Your Convenience

The monitor comes with the basic picture presets; aside from the Brightness and Contrast settings, users also get to choose one of six Color Temperature settings, namely Bluish, Native, Cool, Warm, sRGB, and User settings. Dynamic Contrast and Overscan features can also be enabled.

For energy efficiency, this ViewSonic display has three (3) Eco modes, namely Standard, Optimize and Conserve. Optimize mode lowers the display’s brightness level by 25%, while Conserve mode pulls the energy consumption all the way down to 50%.

The Green Choice

The low energy consumption and mercury-free backlighting, this ViewSonic monitor is an excellent Green choice, as it helps you both save money and save the environment. Its LED backlight helps save up to thousands of dollars for five years of use.

Dual Monitor and Multiple Monitor Setup Options

The Viewsonic TD2340 features 100mm x 100mm VESA mountable design that allow users to place this display in their most comfortable position, be it mounting on a wall or attaching the screen to a monitor stand. Pair that with the touchscreen system of this display and you get a very flexible monitor to work with.

The stand of Viewsonic TD2340 provides variety of adjustment options, but it still limits the display in one particular spot on your desk. Touchscreen monitors like this can definitely get some help from a more versatile and ergonomic monitor stand or LCD arm. One good example of a flexible and versatile monitor stand for touchscreen displays is the MX Desk Mount LCD Arm. This LCD arm allows users to position their monitor anywhere in their desk for maximum ergonomic comfort to minimize or even relieve neck, eye and back strain. It also allows the display to extend and retract up to 16.7 inches (424 mm) to push out the display nicely and arrange your desk when not in use

For dual monitor setup on the other hand, you can use the LX Dual Side-by-Side Arm from Ergotron. It’s a fully adjustable dual LCD monitor arm with solid polished aluminum construction and high quality materials. It can supports two 27-inch displays and both arms can be adjusted independently, allowing users to reposition their display; up, down, forward and back, with one simple touch, and still keep the displays secured and stable in place through the help of its patented Constant Force (CF) technology. This stand also allows you to pair it with your laptop, giving you a touchscreen display extension for your portable computer.

Design and Features

(image from Amazon)

The Viewsonic TD2340 may not seem like a 23-inch monitor when you first pull it off from its box. The 32mm wide bezel underneath and scratch resistant glass cover makes the whole think look small and disproportional. The black bars took so much space, but this is quite understandable as ViewSonic wanted to keep the balance out its large stand.

Tablet-Like Look and Feel

The edge-to-edge glass outlined by black borders gives the TD2340 the tablet-like look and feel, making it quite a nice monitor to touch and swipe.

Scratch Resistant Glass Coating

One of the things that add the gorgeous look to this monitor is its glass that extends all the way across to the bezel. Its glossy finish may make it particularly prone to fingerprints, but they are very lovely to use look and use for flicking apps and windows. The glass is also hardened with scratch resistant feature. However, its glossy finish also makes it susceptible for glares and reflections.

All the Inputs and Connectivity Options You Will Need

(image from Amazon)

The rear cabinet of TD2340 houses all the video inputs for your multimedia needs, namely DisplayPort, HDMI and VGA. It’s also equipped with an audio input and headphone jack and USB 3.0 downstream ports at the right for convenience. It also comes with a built-in speakers that works quite loud, though it lacks the bass response, which makes them sound tinny when set in the highest volume level.

Large and Flexible Stand for Variety of Maneuverability

(image from Amazon)

The monitor is supported by a large U-shaped stand that measures 350 x 330 mm and requires a lot of desk space. However, its big footprint provides stable and secured support for the display, while providing plenty of maneuverability. It adds 10 inches to the total depth and maneuverability options like 55° tilt range, 3.25 height adjustments and can pivot to switch from landscape to portrait mode and vice versa, though screen orientation doesn’t automatically change when panel is rotated.

(image from Amazon)

You will need two hands to move the device from one position to another, but the hinge of the stand very is sturdy and provides superior security. It can be even folded down flat to make it parallel with the desktop. This sturdy stand holds the whole thing in place, keeping the monitor from accidentally shifting as you swipe and make gestures on the screen.

Bottom Line

The Viewsonic TD2340 is quite an impressive and highly capable display. It’s a great choice for anyone looking to maximize their Windows 8 computer. It offers really good image quality and grayscale performance, and comes with a very versatile and ergonomic stand that can fit to anyone’s needs. The touch is very responsive. It has superfluous extra features that can be appealing for professional graphics design.

The only major challenge for this product is its price. There are a lot of really good displays out there available for around $80 less of the price of this monitor.

All in all, Viewsonic TD2340 is an attractive touchscreen monitor that features a gorgeous 23-inch IPS panel.
