Decent Color Accuracy and Good Grayscale Performance

Color accuracy of BenQ XL2720Z is pretty decent. Though not as sharp as compared to high-end IPS panels, such as the NEC MultiSync PA242W-BK. The chromaticity test shows all colors missed their ideal coordinates; red and blue are just outside their ideal points, but pretty close, while green is completely off the mark. This however, doesn’t cause any oversaturating or tinting in the picture.

In terms of grayscale performance, this BenQ gaming monitor has no trouble displaying every shade of gray. It is able to deliver highlight details and solid shadows in test photos of DisplayMate 64-step Grayscale test.

Motion Blur Reduction Technology

As its name suggests, motion blur reduction technology improves the ultra-smooth, blur-free gaming experience. A very important factor for high-paced and action-packed games such as FPS games, where reaction time is crucial and winning and losing is just a matter of split-second decision. Action-packed demanding games like Aliens vs. Predators look amazing in terms of picture quality, even at Standard mode. Screen is free of artifacts and fast motion seems very fluid, no need for you to enable Blur Reduction feature. In some occasions, enabling this feature will cause loss of luminance. Thus, it is best to disable this feature unless you’re experiencing serious blur or ghosting.

ZeroFlicker Technology for Comfortable Gaming

The collaboration with pro gamers helps the design of XL2720Z into a more eye-friendly display. The Gaming-comfort ZeroFlicker technology eliminates screen’s flickering at all brightness levels. This is quite an important factor for reducing eye fatigue and improves your gaming experience through viewing comfort.

Eye-Friendly Low Blue Light

One of the biggest complaints about computer displays is the amount of blue light produced by the screen; it causes eyestrain, headaches, and even sleeping disorders and eye damage in the long run. If you’re one of the millions of people around the world who work in front of their computer all day, then you should look for ways to protect your eyes. The BenQ’s new Low Blue Light technology provides comfortable and top-notch viewing experience, whether you’re playing games, watching full HD movies, or just browsing the web and typing in Word processor apps. General

Bottom Line

(image from Amazon)

Though it doesn’t make too many changes, this new monitor from BenQ is definitely way better than its predecessors. It sports the same type of casing and stand, same hardware features and design. It is however, an improved that beats its predecessors in extra, convenient, and functional features.

If there’s anything we can complain about the BenQ XL2720Z, it would be about its 27-inch large panel that works on a relatively limited 1080p resolution. To get all the benefits of that “retina” feel everyone is hyping about, you would have to sit around four feet away from your screen, which for some people, in some ways, seem to defeat the purpose of larger field of opportunities. Also, the touch buttons can be a little erratic at times, and the viewing angle can be better. However, none of these issues can affect the monitor’s excellent reputation for gaming.

It is important to note that this BenQ monitor is not about high resolution, great color accuracy, or a flexible set of features for general use. Rather, it is a highly sophisticated gaming monitor with tons of useful features that will take your gaming to the next level. If you have already spent quite a lot of money for your system’s graphics, and want a monitor where you can stay on top of your game all the time, then you definitely should get BenQ XL2720Z. It also comes jam-packed with I/O ports and features you need for comfortable and pleasurable gaming.
