Who is it for?

Merkury Innovations NotePal ErgoStand obviously, is designed for laptop users, especially those who are looking for better ergonomic adjustability as they use their portable computers for work on a daily basis. It comes with wide range of adjustments for comfort, along with other convenient features, all for a cheap price. Though it’s not designed to be carried around, it’s not as bulky as most cooling pads.

Merkury Innovations NotePal ErgoStand offers lots of good things to the table; aside from its cheap price tag, it also comes with the comfy and convenient features that we look for in many cooling pads.

Powerful Cooling System

Merkury Innovations NotePal ErgoStand is equipped with a large and pretty powerful fan, ensuring excellent airflow and ventilation in your laptop, greatly reducing the risk of overheating. The fan however, can get too loud when set at its maximum setting. Don’t worry though, as you won’t be using the maximum setting too much, as the low and medium setting are more than enough to cool off your portable computer.

Plenty of USB Connectivity Options

Excluding the miniUSB charging port, Merkury Innovations NotePal ErgoStand has a whopping four additional USB 2.0 ports. That’s plenty of connectivity options for you should you need to plug in your smartphone, tablet, or various laptop peripherals, such as webcam or mouse, while working. Quite a convenient feature to have, as most cooling pads in the market only have one or two USB ports.

Design and Features

On the other side you have the Power button to turn the tool On or Off. There’s also a slider knob which gives you full control of the fan’s power. Lastly, there’s the DC adapter which helps in managing the power consumption of the device and reduce battery drain on your laptop.

Adjustable Height for Comfort and Ergonomics

As said earlier, this cooling pad offers ergonomic adjustability for comfortable use. The first two settings both tilts the laptop up at less than 30˚ each, allowing comfortable position for your shoulders, arms and wrists for typing. The other remaining higher angle adjustments of course, allow flexibility and versatility and whichever setup or position you want, good for users who like to set their laptop at almost vertical position, as the angle of adjustment ranges from 30˚ to 90˚. This may seem a little overboard, as it looks incredibly awkward. However, by doing so, you will have the freedom to set your laptop screen at eye almost level, which could be extremely convenient for work use. This position also decreases the strain on your neck, shoulders and back, which are all common complains in prolonged use of laptop.

With Sturdy Rubber Feet to Keep Everything Stable

Rubber feet are a staple feature among cooling pads, and this product utilized the same old trick for stability. The rubberized feet of Merkury Innovations NotePal ErgoStand allows the whole thing to stand in a secured and stable fashion even when set at the highest setting setup.

Clever Cable Management System

Most cooling pads come with nice and clever cable management system, which is a must, as most users will need to use external keyboard and a mouse with this tool. This model however, provides a resourceful option through cable management clips.

Tech Specs

Bottom Line

As been said in this review, Merkury Innovations NotePal ErgoStand is one of the cheapest cooling pads out there. But don’t mistake its cheap price for cheap quality, as it comes packed with features that can content in many high quality and more expensive counterparts, such as the powerful fan that comes with adjustments, wide adjustable height range, and plenty of USB port options. It has a wide angle of adjustment range as well.

Of course, there are some limitations, such as the bulky form. Also, the rubber support limits access to bottom-row keys. Both drawbacks are minor, which we can definitely live with, considering the price tag this product comes.

All in all, Merkury Innovations NotePal ErgoStand is a great deal for anyone looking for cooling help for their laptop but don’t want to spend big amount of money. It’s a simple and straightforward tool, without the bells and whistles, but delivers the job quite well.
