Ergotron WorkFit-TL; An In-Depth Review

Ergotron has established its names as one of the better brands when it comes to home and office ergonomics and computer solutions. Their WorkFit series for example, made huge waves as they provide excellent and ingenious solutions to retrofit furniture for a sit-stand height adjustment through standing desk converters. One of the biggest hits was the WorkFit-T, which rivaled the best sit-stand desktop workstation in the market. Now, they have released the big brother of that product in Ergotron WorkFit-TL which provides wider worksurface and a larger keyboard tray for more comfortable computing. What makes it better than the smaller WorkFit and its competition in the market? Check out this in-depth review from Dual Monitors Guide.

Who is it for?

Ergotron WorkFit-TL, as with any other products from the WorkFit series, is targeted for office workers.  Basically it’s designed for people who work on their computer for long hours every day, particularly who work on two screens or dual monitor setup. It provides a standing solution, while allowing users to work on their chair anytime they want. Basically, it brings the best of both worlds as it can switch from sitting to standing position fast.

Larger and Wider for More Comfortable Computing

Compared to its predecessor, WorkFit-TL is bigger. With wider worksurface and larger keyboard tray, this product offers spacious and more comfortable working space for computer users. And as said earlier, the larger desk surface provides enough space for dual monitor setup of two mid-sized (24 inches) monitors.

Moves Up and Down Quickly

Ergotron WorkFit-TL instantly moves your desk up and down. Simply press the levers on both sides, release them on your desired position and voila! You’re all set. No cranks or motors needed to engage. The counterbalance of this product is a patented technology from Ergotron itself to facilitate quick and smooth height adjustment.

Design and Features

Extremely Stable and Solid Platform

Ergotron WorkFit-TL comes in fully assembled, but you may need some help to get this enormous thing out of its box. The size itself is fine for most desks, but it can be heavy, which is understandable as it makes the whole thing more stable and can lift up to 40 lbs. of load on top of the desk. That’s quite amazing.

Installing and setting this thing up to your desk is an absolute breeze. Once all your stuff is on top, from monitor, keyboard, and mouse, you can pull the two levers and lift up the desk, lock it on your desired height position, and then release the levers to lock it in place. The spring mechanism allows the desk surface to rise and fall smoothly. Just be careful when moving the desk down when it’s holding two monitors on top, as one mistake can cause the screens to wobble and fall off. You can of course, ensure the monitors stay secured in place using a separate mount for dual monitor setup.

Space-Saving Design, Works Well In Corners

Unlike many desktop risers in the market that rises in an arc motion, this one rises up and down. Also, the keyboard moves in tandem with the work surface, with the keyboard tray positioned about 4.5 inches below the work surface, maintaining that ergonomic space between the keyboard and the screen. That means it doesn’t protrude beyond your tabletop, leaving you with the original space you have.

Also, this product works perfectly well with corner desk configurations, as it can fit on surfaces as shallow as 19 inches.

With Cable Management System to Keep Your Desk Neat and Clutter-Free

Llike all Ergotron products, WorkFit-TL ensures your workstation is always neat and clutter-free, that’s why they have provided cable ties and a special ‘tube’ to let users neatly tuck their cables and cords away.

Bottom Line

Ergotron WorkFit-TL is as good as it gets. There isn’t much to complain about this product, as it works really well on what it intends to do. Lift mechanism is quick and smooth, while build quality is superb. Design wise, it looks bulky and quite a space-hugger, which is understandable, as it’s supposed to provide larger work surface.

As with other Ergotron products, the WorkFit-TL looks and feels incredibly well-made, and we can’t stress this enough. It feels solid and sturdy; it doesn’t move or wobble around when switching from sitting to standing position and vice versa.

The price may be a little steep, but hey, that’s the price you pay for quality. You definitely would want to invest in your comfort and ergonomics. Also, it comes with a 5-year warranty. Something many products can’t provide.
