The only major difference of this particular model is the updated and more polished metal finish that lets users easily incorporate the dual monitor stand to their workspace. IT shows off cast metal segments with clear coat paint design to seal and protect the metal finish. This design is used in all Ergotron LX-series and provides wide range of configurations and can hold laptops and monitors at the same time.

Setting Up Ergotron LX Dual Side-by-Side Arm

To set up the Ergotron LX Dual Side-by-Side Arm, you have to attach it to the surface of a desk. It can be clamped over an edge, be bolted through a pre-drilled hole or through a small self-drilled hole. If you don’t want to make holes on your favorite desk, then your best option is to attach the stand on the surface of your desk from the side. Excluding the time to cut a notch on the desk, which should apply in most users, the total assembly time of this monitor arm takes more or less 15 minutes.

The stand of this Ergotron dual monitor arm is especially designed for compatibility with desk. The top floats are on brackets, as it should be completely wrapped on the edge to the lower brace. This may need a little work and a special tool like a reciprocating saw to have a good opening through the back panel. If you wish to permanently mount the arm on your desk, you can drill a small hole on the surface of your desk.

Setting up the dual monitor arm is quite simple and straightforward, as many of the work needed are already in pre-assembly. Many of the arm’s components are already slipped together through pre-made sections. Each segment of the arm is in the box and includes all the basic accessories you need to setup. There are only minor “set-screw” to tighten and secure parts together. The brand also includes finishing caps for closing the top segments of the pips where you can place on top of the hinge points. These caps will pop into their place with the help of tension clips.

Here is a short and complete demonstration for setting up Ergotron LX Arm:

The Ergotron LX Dual Side-by-Side Arm comes with very intuitive controls and wide range of movements. The stand itself comes with multiple pivoting points that allow you to move the monitor in any angles you want, raising them off your desk, giving you more space to work on with your keyboard, mouse, etc. The height where you can raise your monitors depends on the size of your monitor. A 20-inch display can be lifted up to eight inches. To make monitors float conveniently above your desk, Ergotron puts a spring with adjustable tension, giving the arm neutral buoyancy so monitors will not slowly lift or sag once you set their position.  You can reposition your monitor with a single soft touch, thanks to LX's unparalleled range of motion.

Each arm of this dual monitor stand can hold a maximum weight of up to 20lbs, that’s enough to hold computer monitors as big as 27-inch in one arm, and a big laptop on the other.

One of the best things about this dual monitor arm is its cable management system. This system lets you put cords out of your desk – a hollow arm where you can place and hide the cords and cables of your monitors, power cord or USB cord. The cable management options completely hides wires through the length of the arms, while the arm uses wire ties to hold and secure wires at the bottom. This keeps anyone’s workspace clean and neat, even with power, data, and video and audio cables.
