In the past couple of years, the competitive market forced display manufacturers to make large LCD screens more affordable for the masses. While the introduction of 4K Ultra HD is slowly being accepted, not many people find it practical. And they will prefer for full HD, with 1080p resolution, making 27 inch computer monitors becoming more and more common in many households. Who is it for?

What makes the BenQ GW2760HS monitor really good is its impressive native contrast ratio of 3000:1, which is around three (3) times better than its rival IPS-based screens in the market today. This results to superior quality blacks than many other monitors in its competition, giving you deeper contrast – a very important aspect in watching movies and TV on your computer. If you’re looking for a good computer monitor for watching movies, TV series, online streaming, etc., that doesn’t hurt the bank, then the this monitor is for you.

BenQ promises to bring you the ultimate personal visual entertainment with this monitor. Featuring a slim bezel, 3000:1 native resolution, 20M:1 dynamic constant ratio, flicker-free backlight, and true 8-bit panel performance with deep blacks and minimized light leakage, this monitor certainly offers a one of a kind viewing experience. It is packed with features and performance we couldn’t imagine from a budget monitor a few years ago, making it quite a fantastic treats for its price.

Eye-Friendly Flicker-Free Technology to Let You Enjoy Movies Without the Risk of Eye Fatigue and Eye Strain

This monitor is actually an updated version of BenQ GW2760HM monitor, and now comes with the new flicker-free LED backlight. You may think that modern displays today are flicker-free, but actually they are not. They just control the strength of their backlight by flicking their LED lights fast enough to maintain brightness. It happens so fast that our eyes don’t recognize it. However, they can cause fatigue and strain your eyes easily.

The BenQ GW2760HS on the other hand, is designed to save your eyes from this dilemma, as it keeps its brightness through direct current, which saves the LED backlighting from the need to turn on and off again. This technology allows you to enjoy your display for longer period of time, perfect for watching movies, TV series marathon, etc.

Comes with Pre-Set Calibrations for Easy and Convenient Use

Menu and settings controls may seem irksome, as BenQ invested more on aesthetics than function on this part. However, the GW2760HS comes with pre-set calibrations to make each computing tasks more convenient and enjoyable. Two new pre-set options are the Reading Mode (mimics the comfort of paperback books, making it comfortable for reading eBooks), and the Eco Mode (adjusts the monitor’s brightness level to conserve energy).

Calibrated Out of the Box for Superb Image Quality

This monitor has been thoroughly calibrated to match its brightness and contrast claims. The 3,000:1 contrast ratio and a 300 nits brightness BenQ claims is even more impressive, as they exceed for up to 3200:1 contrast ratio and 356 nits peak brightness in Xrite i1 Display Pro colourimeter. Thus, images are displayed with real depth and details; make colors look brighter and more vivid. The great contrast capabilities also help the monitor distinguish black and near black, and between white and almost-white.

Accuracy and color temperature are also impressive, quite good for its price. All these results to high contrast videos with better image quality, colors look more vivid on the screen too, thanks to the high brightness features, which make watching movies and videos, images and playing games an enjoyable experience. Of course, you want to turn down the brightness for work.

Good Response Time for Gamers

The 4ms GTG response time of this BenQ monitor for film is also highly capable of handling hardcore FPS (first person shooter) games.

Dual Monitor and Multiple Monitor Setup Options

Big screens like this deserves a more solid and sturdy stand that can provide a more stable base. A good option for this is the Ergotron LX Wall Mount LCD Arm – this mounting arm allows superb adjustments for more ergonomic workstation and greater productivity. Basic Monitor with Good Capabilities and Impressive Features for its Price

This monitor comes with fairly basic AMVA panel – a step down from the preferred IPS-based LCD panels, but certainly a huge step up from the budget TN panels. The 1,920 x 1,080 resolution is not the most impressive for its size, but for its price range, it’s certainly not something to complain about.

Convenient Adjustments

The screen can be tilted forward and back, and rotate to switch from portrait and landscape orientation. However, it can’t be swiveled or adjusted in height.

Impressive Viewing Angles

Viewing angles for this monitor is also impressive. BenQ promised viewable angle of up to 178°, without colors shifting.  The brand certainly lived up to its claim as the display is viewable anywhere you are in your room.

Little Assembly and Easy Setup with VESA Compatible Mount Option

Like most modern monitors today, this one from BenQ also requires a little assembly to setup nicely in your desk. The monitor should be fastened and secured to its stand using the provided two screws. It’s a VESA-compatible mount, making it very easy to set up in most mounting options. Its light and robust construction allows it stand securely on your desk.

Tech Specs

Bottom Line

The BenQ GW2760HS is really a good deal for your money. This monitor comes in good build quality, though it is not as versatile as its smaller counterpart – BenQ BL2410. However, it has good color production and excellent brightness and contrast which makes still images, movies and videos look more beautiful, while the flicker-free backlight is quite a great selling point to enjoy the display without hurting your eyes.

It may lack the design and flexibility compared to its more expensive competition, but it’s totally a bargain for its price, considering its capabilities and features. Besides, we can’t fault for this monitor’s lack of style, as it is definitely made with minimalist design.

All in all, the BenQ GW2760HS is fully capable of making feature-rich display, and it doesn’t disappoint in that aspect. It’s a perfect choice for people looking for budget monitor that won’t hurt the eyes. Despite greeted by seemingly endless delays, this monitor definitely delivered its promises of impressive performance and quality. Quite frankly, this is one of the VA panel monitors today in terms of image performance.
