Who Is It For?

If you’re looking for an affordable 27-inch display with unhampered high picture quality with elegant design for your workstation or home computer setup, then you will love the border-less display of AOC i2757fhIt has gorgeous IPS panel and has good overall performance for almost all types of computing.

AOC i2757fh is a 27-inch IPS monitor with great head-turner aesthetics and quality performance (color reproduction, saturation, grayscale performance and viewing angles).

It has two HDMI ports that lets you allows you to connect with your HD sources without swapping out cables.

Solid IPS Color Performance; Accurate and Smooth Colors

IPS panel monitors are best known for their color depth and good viewing angle, and the AOC i2757fh doesn’t disappoint in both aspects. DisplayMate Color Scale test shows the screen is able to show colors in both bold and deep fashion, without any hint of oversaturation. Color gradation stay smooth across the test, and there are no signs of banding and tinting. Colors also remained accurate and bold when viewed from any brightness levels and angles.

Solid Grayscale Performance;

The AOC i2757fh also has no trouble displaying every shade of gray from the 64-Step Grayscale test. The lightest shade however, was slightly washed out, while the darkest shade can be improved. With that said, its grayscale performance is still pretty on point, and way better than most TN (Twisted Nematic) panel monitors, though it is not as good as what top-tier professional grade monitors like the NEC PA301W.

With Matte Coating to Eliminate Glares and Reflections

The matte coating of the panel also does a good job of eliminating glares and reflections, making it comfortable display for working, even in well-lit environment.

Good Pixel Response Performance for All-Around Use, Even Gaming and Watching Movies

This AOC display works decently for movies and even games, as the 5-millisecond (black-to-white) pixel response delivers smooth video transitions. Users will get to enjoy blur-free action with its sharp image quality, even in action-packed movies. Gamers will also love the flawless and no-noticeable-lag performance of this display, making it a good choice even for fast-paced scene transitions like PS3 racing games such as Need for Speed: Carbon.

However, there are some ghosting issues in this display’s gaming performance. It has an average input lag of 9ms. Input lag is measures the delay between the time a signal is sent to the monitor and the reaction of the image displayed onscreen. If it weren’t for this issue, this monitor would make a great display for multiplayer games.

Decent Power Consumption with Off-Timer to Help Conserve Energy When Not In Use

Like its closest competition Viewsonic VX2770Smh-LED, the AOC i2757fh uses 30 watts of power at Standard mode. This is quite common among 27-inch IPS displays these days. However, unlike like its Viewsonic competitor, this monitor doesn’t come with dedicated power-saving modes. It does however, come with an Off-Timer feature, which automatically turns off display when not in use for a specific period of time.

Design and Features

(image from Amazon)

The AOC i2757fh is simply attractive, its 1920 x 1080 panel is housed in a glossy black cabinet which is only less than half-inch thick. Its cabinet is quite similar to Viewsonic VX2770Smh-LED, and has a bezel-less (at top and sides) design, making it appear as if floating from its stand. The AOC logo is polished and molded to its bottom bezel as well.  The bottom bezel is also a thin 1.3-inch bezel. Though not actually border-free, the border sits flush with the screen.

The body of the cabinet looks great, until you actually touch it, you would say it’s made out of metal. It is actually grey plastic.

Buttons and Functions

(image from Amazon)

The bottom bezel houses the five touch-sensitive control buttons of the display. It’s done up with a brushed aluminum finish, giving the monitor sleek and high-tech look.

The buttons provides access to the monitor’s Picture settings, which includes the basic things you can expect from an all-around display, including Brightness, Contrast, Dynamic Contrast Ratio, Gamma, and Color Temperature.

Like most AOC monitors, the Picture Presets are called ECO modes, though they don’t mean Power Saving schemes. There are six (6) presets in this display, namely, Standard, Text, Movie, Game, Internet and Sports, which are all optimized to provide the best picture quality for their specific purpose and everyday use. This monitor also comes with five (5) Dynamic Color Boost (DCB) settings, which adds saturation to the whole picture, or can be used to set individually improved colors (of greens, blues and skin tones).

Like its small brother AOC e2351F, the AOC i2757fh comes with Bright Frame settings, letting you frame out segments of the images you are viewing, and even change luminance values of objects inside the frame. This feature acts as a highlighter to easily choose portions of the picture without changing the whole picture.

Solid Stand, But with Limited Adjustability

(image from Amazon)

The rectangular stand holds the cabinet in place, and lets you tilt the screen 5° forward and 15° backward. However, it doesn’t come with other adjustability options, such as height adjustment support, swivel, and pivot, which would have been really helpful for workstation use.

The back side of the cabinet houses two (2) HDMI ports, a VGA port and headphone jack and audio input audio connections. There are not USB ports though.

Decent Speakers for General Use

(image from Amazon)

Like most affordable all-around monitor, it also comes with a good gaming feature – built-in speakers. And like most affordable monitors with built-in speakers, there isn’t much to expect in AOC display. The speakers sound a bit tinny, but setting it to the highest volume level with provide reasonably loud performance without annoying distortions.

Tech Specs

Package includes the VGA and audio cables and a resource CD containing a comprehensive user guide and drivers. There is no HDMI cable though, which means you need to purchase it separately.

Bottom Line

(image from Amazon)

With monitor prices creeping in lower and lower, even the new IPS-based models are now affordable. The AOC i2757fh is a good example of a quality IPS monitor that comes with an affordable, if not cheap price tag. It enters the highly competitive world of IPS displays with sporting a stylishly beautiful small bezel (borderless) design and ultra-thin cabinet.

(image from Amazon)

It will be very hard to find a 27-inch IPS display with a price range like this and performs at this level. The brushed metal finish and slender chassis provides superb off angle viewing, and good rich color quality.

This model is definitely far from the ideal, but it does really come with great function and features that can compensate a lot of things. Performance wise, AOC can improve its responsive time for gaming. Also, most monitors of its size today works at 2560 x 1440, rather than 1920 x 1080. Features wise, AOC can improve its stand’s limited range of adjustability and movements, and add some convenient features such as USB ports, as they’re convenient features for workstations. Also, sadly, the cabinet doesn’t come with VESA mounting holes, which means you are stuck to its stand. Although of course, you can choose to upgrade you workstation with a height-adjustable standing desk for dual monitor and multiple monitor setup or better ergonomics.

All in all, the AOC i2757fh provides good value for your money, as it delivers solid performance, and comes with good-looking design at a very affordable price. For a monitor under $300, this product is still a killer deal.
