Who is it for?

The AOC G2460PQU is specifically designed for users who are serious about gaming. This mid-sized display boasts an ultra-fast 1ms gray-to-gray pixel response time, alongside with equally fast 144Hz refresh rate, both of which have the best capabilities to render the most demanding games, giving gamers smooth, blur-free gaming experience.

Benefits

As said in the previous paragraph, this AOC display is well-engineered for hardcore gamers. The AOC G2460PQU one of the brand’s strongest models for the gaming and it is packed with gaming-centric features and functions that will not only deliver smooth and blur-free gaming experience, but also accurate colors, which is usually the case with most TN (Twisted Nematic) based panels. The gray-scale performance and viewing performance though, is a little less than the ideal.

As a display particularly designed for gaming, the AOC G2460PQU has lots of great gaming-centric and entertainment treats to offer.

World’s Fastest 1ms GTG Response Time and 144Hz Refresh Rate for Ultra Smooth Gaming Experience

Designed for hardcore gamers, the AOC G2460PQU has the fastest GTG Response time (1ms) in the market today. This means the screen is fully capable of delivering smooth graphics rendering, even in the fastest-moving actions and demanding games. Users need not to worry about ghosting or image smearing, which means gaming in this display is lag-free, making it perfect for gamers looking for the best display and get the best edge against their competition. Aliens vs. Predator tests show no signs of motion blurring, as the game is extremely smooth. The input lag is at 26.5 milliseconds (measured using Leo Bodnar Video Signal Lag Tester), a little longer than its closest rival BenQ RL2460HT, which is at 10.1-milliseconds.

The fast Response Time was paired with fast Refresh Rate for optimum graphics. Competitive gamers with the most intensive gaming demands can surely benefit from this display’s lag-free and smooth gaming performance. The 144Hz is 2.4 times faster than the standard display we have in the market right now. Lower frame rate can result to enemies in the battlefield appear jumping from one place to another, making them harder to spot and hit. The fast refresh rate of this display makes any movement in your screen ultra-smooth.

Good Color Accuracy and Grayscale Performance for All Your Viewing Needs

Color accuracy and grayscale performance are both quite good in this AOC monitor. Chromaticity test shows that colors red, green and blue are all closely aligned to their ideal CIE coordinates. Playing action-packed movies like Avengers on Blu-ray shows natural-looking skin tones and well-saturated colors, without any tinting issues.

Grayscale performance is far from great, but definitely good, typical to TN panels. Based on DisplayMate 64-Step Gray-Scale test, there were some washed-out grays at the light end of the scale, but only the two lightest shows were affected. The panel doesn’t seem to have any problem showing the dark gray shades, which means sharper shadow details in images.

With 7 Different Display Modes

(image from Amazon)

AOC G2460PQU lets you switch your display mode to seven (7) different screen sizes: 17-inch Pillar Box (5:4), 19-inch Pillar Box (5:4), 19-inch Widescreen (16:10), 21.5-inch Widescreen (16:9), 22-inch Widescreen (16:10), 23-inch Widescreen (16:9) and 24-inch Widescreen (16:9). This feature lets you choose the best possible view for any application or game.

Decent Viewing-Angle Performance

The viewing angle performance of AOC G2460PQU is pretty decent, far from the best but good enough for most work and entertainment setups. Shifting starts at around 65° from the center of the screen to the side, while image darkens at about the same distance when monitor is viewed from top and bottom angle.

Decent Power Consumption

As a gaming display, you can expect the AOC G2460PQU to consume a lot of energy on its operation. At Standard mode, this display consumes 31 watts, which is at the high side for a 24-inch monitor. Its closest rival NEC MultiSync EA244WMi, uses only 26 watts at Standard mode. You can however, lower the power consumption down to 17 watts at Text mode setting. But this is far from being good when playing games, as it can cause the screen to appear dim.

Dual Monitor and Multiple Monitor Setup Options

For mid-sized gaming displays like AOC G2460PQU, multiple monitor setups can make a huge difference in gaming experience. Fortunately, there are lots of choices out there, especially for dual monitor setup.

Ergotron LX Dual Side-by-Side Arm for example, is a great fully-adjustable dual LCD monitor stand. It comes with solid polished aluminum construction and made with high quality materials. Each arm can hold up to 27-inch monitor and can be independently adjusted, allowing gamers to reposition their display and get the perfect setup.

If you’re looking for an affordable alternative for dual monitor setup, you should check out MonMount LCD-194 Dual LCD Monitor Stand. This dual monitor stand clamps easily to your desk and can hold two display of up to 26-inch size in each side., putting two displays together side-by-side. It is one of the most affordable solutions out there, and it’s well-designed to keep you displays safe and secured. The best thing about this product is it comes with very few assembly pieces, making it  very easy to put up together in your workstation.

Design and Features

(image from Amazon)

Design wise, the AOC G2460PQU is far from being flashy. Its matte-black cabinet and subtle red accent gives it an edgy look. The TN panel comes with a non-reflective coating, surrounded with an ultra-thin (0.5-inch) bezel with faux brushed-black-metal finish. This 12 lbs. cabinet is 2 inches thick, and supported by a solid round stand.

Buttons and Functions

The lower bezel has a red strip along its lower edge which holds the four function buttons, the Power switch, and an ambient light sensor.

These buttons gives access to the basic display setting adjustments of the AOC display. Picture settings include Brightness, Contrast, Color Temperature, Gamma and the usual analog-only Clock, Position adjustments and Phase.

There are also six picture presets in this display, all of which are well optimized to address specific viewing needs. These are Standard mode, Game, Text, Movie, Sports, and Internet Modes. Plus, there’s an i-Care settings that uses the light sensor and automatically adjusts the monitor screen’s brightness level according to your ambient light levels, quite a convenient and eye-friendly feature to have for workstation.

Like most AOC displays in the market today, the AOC G2460PQU has DCB or Dynamic Color Boost, allowing users to improve certain colors for their viewing (Blue, Green, Skin Tone or All Colors). And like the product’s previous models however, these settings may leave your screen colors look oversaturated, which suggests you should just leave this feature behind.

With two Built-in 2-watt Speakers

The cabinet also houses the two built-in 2-watt speakers, which can handle full volume setting without distortion. Of course, it’s doesn’t have the most impressive bass.

Fully Adjustable Stand with VESA Mounting Holes for More Flexible Setup Options

The solid round stand of AOC G2460PQU supports the cabinet in place. The mounting arm comes with a hinge that lets you adjust your screen to your preference. It can tilt 5° forward and 20° backwards, rotate 90° to switch between portrait and landscape mode and vice versa, and adjust in height up to 5.25 inches.

Below the base is the Lazy Susan mechanism, which allows the screen to swivel.

The back side of the cabinet has the four VESA mounting holes, making it easy for users to use third-party ergonomic products such as fully adjustable LCD arms and desk mounts for more versatile adjustments or for dual monitor or multiple monitor setups, or suspend their display to the wall through a third-party wall mount or through an optional mounting kit.

I/O Ports

(image from Amazon)

AOC is known for generous selection of Inputs/Outputs in its monitors, and this very model is no different. The rear side of the cabinet houses the HDMI port, DisplayPort port, a VGA port, and DVI (dual-link) video inputs, an audio input, a headphone jack. It also has one upstream USB 2.0 port, and two downstream USB 2.0 ports, where one of which offers fast-charging for your external devices, such as smartphones, tablets, etc.

The two extra USB 2.0 ports are strategically placed on the right side of the cabinet for your convenience.

Tech Specs

Package comes with the AOC G2460PQU monitor, DVI, USB, VGA, and audio input cables. Users have to find their own HDMI and DisplayPort cabling. The box also includes the resource CD, red clip-on cable organizer for the mounting arm

Bottom Line

(image from Amazon)

Gamers will certainly appreciate the ultra-fast pixel response and high refresh rate of AOC G2460PQU, along all of its gaming- centric features and functions. Though input lag could be faster, it is enough for most types of gaming. With that said, this 24-inch display comes with accurate colors, with decent good grayscale and viewing-angle performance, along with convenient features, such as fully adjustable stand, speakers, multiple video inputs and USB ports.

If there’s anything we don’t like about this AOC gaming monitor, it would be its lack of 3D support. Unlike many gaming monitors at 120Hz and 144Hz, this one is not compatible with any 3D settings.

Also, despite of its very practical hardware features and impressively smooth onscreen image, this AOC display seems to struggle in outshining its biggest competitors, such as the Asus VG248QE (which is available at similar price), which has 3D compatibility.
